Sally sat with her head propped up by her hand, and her eyelids slowly drifting into a closed state. Her current location was the Cambell County Library, and while it was fairly empty and of course quiet, she couldn't get herself to concentrate on the book. The book was titled Four Blind Mice, a book by her favorite author, James Patterson. No doubt it intrigued her, as all his books did, yet she couldn't bring herself to pay attention. Her eyes had probably scanned the same paragraph ten times without her once taking in a single word. She felt like going home and sleeping, though the fact was, she had no home anymore.
Suddenly, this thought jerked her into an awake state, and she realized that she'd told her parents she was leaving for awhile, perhaps for good. This sudden notion made her queasy. Of course they'd take her back with open arms, but she didn't want them to think she couldn't fend for herself. Hell, after all that had happened to the family, they would want to keep her forever. Closing her eyes, she decided she'd need to find a place to stay. Maybe work for someone and the payment could be housing? Her mind scanned the places she could live and work. Nothing immediately came to mind. Oh well, she'd find somewhere. And if not, she'd just hang with the night crew. She had some money given by her parents, and maybe, just maybe there was a hotel room for cheap around here.
Sighing, she gently shut the book, feeling a tear fall gently down her cheek. Why her? Why hadn't she just gone to college without trying to live on her own? Sally wasn't meant for this world. It was just too cruel. And she was just too...not. Sighing, she wished she had just one friend. That would make such a difference in her life. One friend to truly rely on...yes, but that was too much to ask for.

Sighing, Jessi walked around the library with a few books piled in her hands as she looked around, making sure she didn't trip over anyone. Yes, she had manners. No crime there at all. Soon, she found a table, and the books plopped down with a bit of noise, and she flinched, closing her eyes as she felt stone cold eyes watching her. Great, now she felt a bit..bad. Shaking her head, she sat down in the chair, and looked at the titles for a moment; all of them about Genetics. Yes, she was scientific, and she loved genes and animals.
Smiling warmly, she looked around, and soon saw a girl around her age, with...a tear on her cheek? What was wrong with her? Well, one thing was for sure, no one was going to be sad with Jessi around. Standing up, Jessi walked towards the girl, smiling warmly still as she looked at her. "Hey, ya alright...? I hope ya don't mind me askin', I just...want to know what's wrong." Jessi always had to explain herself, for fear of being yelled at. That was one thing she couldn't handle, due to her childhood.
Shaking her head, she smiled as she stuck her hand out, in front of the girl and sighed lightly. "I'm Jessica Nicole Wells, but call me Jessi. Only the old can call me Jessica Nicole." She knew she talked too much at times, but her southern tone was in a whisper as she talked to the girl.
[sorry, I'm rushing xP]

Sally was still sitting there, feeling sorry for herself when she heard a load of books drop against a wooden table in the library. Imediately all pages stopped flipping and that deadly silence that occurs when one person is being singled out occured. Sally knew this silence all too well. For years she had been the target of the stares and for once, she felt good to be the onlooker. However, she couldn't be rude like that for long. She soon stared back at the table, not wanting anyone else to be the target either.
Soon, the girl sat down, and Sally glanced over at her. Dark brown hair, accompanied with chocolate brown eyes. She looked around Sally's age, and then, Sally realized she was staring and looked away. Staring back at the cover of the book, she opened it up to the page she had marked by folding the edge and stared blankly at the small text that filled the thin paper. She soon heard words being directed towards her, and she flinched slightly. Turning around, she found herself staring into the face of the girl whom everyone had been staring at. At her words, Sally offered a soft smile and replied.
" Yea, I'm fine," She offered, wiping the tear from her cheek. "I'm just outta a home, with just a bit of money, and the world apparently hates me. Otherwise, I'm great." Though her words were sarcastic, she didn't mean to take it out on the girl. And she didn't want this Jessi girl to think she was rude, so she replied gently as another tear rolled down her cheek. "I'm sorry...I don't mean to take it out on you, but...I'm Sally. Nice to meet you Jessi" She offered her own hand, and shook Jessi's firmly. She seemed nice enough, and nice enough was good enough for Sally.

Brow raised as the girl gave a bit of a sarcastic remark, but soon apologized. "Hey, don't worry 'bout it. I get like that alot. Nice ta meet ya." She gripped her hand firmly and shook it lightly, and let go soon, looking at her books again, sighing as she tried to think of how she would get her studying in before her cousins came to bother her to death and she wouldn't be able to think, let alone read. She looked at Sally and smiled softly. "Would you want to come with me...? I don't know about the other people in this world, but I don't hate ya. No real reason for me to, is there...?" Jessi walked back over to the chair in front of Sally and sat down, smiling as she looked at her, making full eye contact. That was just how she was brought up; you looked at the person you were talking to.
"Just a little warming, though, it will be a football field. I have to whip some boys into shape for my Da. They don't respect me, for now anyway. I'll make sure they know the meaning of the word, soon enough. I won't force them to respect me, but they will learn to at least listen their coach..." Jessi sighed as she shook her head, thinking about the pathetic excuses for football players she was stuck with; it was like they were pee-wees, not high school players. Some of them, looking as if they hadn't played a game with the Pigskin in their lives. Sad....
