We're running from the law... We've done nothing... But they think we've committed a crime.
Two teens had been at the mall. Nothing out of the ordinary, the mall was a place for teens. Mick had been there with Jessi, they were just best buds having a day at the mall together. Mick and Jessi were now leaving the mall. They had just finished dinner and were ready to walk home. They both had decided a little exercise would be good for the two. The sun was setting as they speaked... Night was coming upon them. And they still had to walk through the city. Let's just say the two hadn't had very good experiences in the city. But they had each other.
Mickail walked next to Jessi as they walked on the sidewalk. The sidewalk was cracked and old, it obviously needed replaced. He looked at Jessi and said, "Dinner was alright... I didn't think they cooked they fries enough. But that was just me." He then looked down at his feet for a minute thinking. He then looked back at her with a smile. "So, how's your love life going? Anybody you like?" He asked. He really liked to know. If she had a boyfriend he needed to meet him too, to make sure he approved.
Mickail then turned his head quickly as he heard gunshots. Two of them rang out in the alley ahead of them. Then two men ran out of the alley. One shot a devilish glare at Mick and Jessi. Mick then ran without thinking into the alleyway. He then stopped and looked as he say the body of a woman. She had been shot twice in the chest. He bent down and checked her neck for her pulse. There was none. She was dead.

"Pft. /My/ love life is like my brother's grade point average; microscopic..." Sighing, she thought this to be interesting. All her friends were male. Didn't really add up, but she was fine with it. Jessi jumped slightly, hearing the gun shots, and walking quickly after Mick, seeing the man glaring at them. Oh, great...Running after Mick, she stopped, seeing the body of a woman. What had happened here? Why, nothing more than a crime, one of which Jessi had been exposed to at a very young age; murder. Some sick bastards thought she was lying, saying her cousin shot her uncle, not her. Why the hell would a seven year old shoot a damn gun with that much skill?! It was a clean shot, execution style. How could a seven year old be that intelligent?! Shaking her head, she looked to the body, face expressionless, but in her mind, the cursing went off. 'Those sick little bastards! Why, the little f**kers. They just screwed themselves over...' She looked at Mick, and sighed. "The police are going to be here any minute...knowing them the way I do..."

Mick looked at her then at the body. Then this feeling inside of him arose. He felt nervous... A sickly nervous feeling was in his gut. He just could tell that trouble was coming. Mickail then froze as he spotted red and blue lights shining into the alleyway and then the sirens started to sound. Oh crud... "We gotta run, you lead the way," He said nervously. He he climbed over the fence of the alleyway and helped Jessi over it. He then waited for her to lead the way through the backyards and alleyways.

"Oooh, I'm going to get in trouble for this one..." Jessi whispered to herself as she hopped the fence, and started running through the backyard of an unknown resident. She knew that cross country would come in handy at some point in time. She looked back over to Mick, before hopping over the next fence, breathing deeply through her nose. Then, there was an alley, and this was where she went next, running down the alleyway, she could hear the sirens, and it made her heart pump faster. Out of the alley and into another, she could hear the sound blaring, coming closer and closer. Shuttering lightly, she hopped one more fence. Into the nearby backyard and under the tree, breathing deeply, she leaned against the tree, looking around for Mick. They needed to find someplace to hide and fast.

Mickail followed her and hopped over the fence also. He was about five feet behind her. She was a bit faster than him. He however managed to keep her insight. If he were to lose her, he would be screwed. His heart raced, inside his mind he could hear his heart beating. The beating was almost deafening, but what was worst was the sound of the sirens piercing his eardrums. He didn't need trouble, but it always found him. They then stopped soon and she leant against a tree. Mick looked at her he was bent over with his hands on his knees. He was catching his breath. "Jessi, you know if there's any dense woods we can run to? They'd never find us there hopefully... Or maybe an abandoned house?" He said quickly and softly. He was just trying to think quick so they could get going before the cops came. He then heard distant barking... They had a canine unit looking for them now. Damn, this situation was getting worse. "Jessi, let's keep moving... If I fall behind don't stop." He said sternly. She probably wouldn't listen but he could try and tell her. He then stood up and waited for her to began to run again.

Hearing the distant barking as she watched Mick catch up, Jessi groaned as she started to run again, hopping the fence once more, waiting for Mick to follow. "Who would have thought it would end up like this. Me on the run from the freakin' dogs I raised. Oh, fate...you are so cruel..." She talked to herself when she got nervous, and right now, it was urgent. She could be caught, caught by the dogs she helped raise and train. Oh yeah, great way to end your social career! Soon, she stumbled a bit, as the ground as a bit moist from dew that was already collecting, but she maintained her balance as she continued to run towards the wood near the mall. She had been here once as a twelve year old. She loved being near the Weeping Willow, as it was so interesting. Her heartbeat was rising with every step she took towards the wood, and she soon found herself in the wood, looking back for Mick, wondering where he was. Stopping, she caught her breath again. She really wouldn't listen to him when he said don't stop. They were friends, and he should really know her better than that by now.

Mickail cringed as he continued on, his legs were killing him. Jessi could sure run. Mick spent too much time inside and wasn't active. This was probably the most exercise he had gotten in his whole life. His heart rate was now at its high and his breatheing was becoming heavy. The sound of dogs was getting louder. He closed his eyes, as tears of pain clung to the corners of his eyes. Everything inside of him wanted to make him just stop and drop there, but he couldn't. He overcame the obstacles such as fences quickly. He was gaining his speed again. He then saw Jessi.
"We need to hide soon... I don't know if I can run much more..." He said weakly. His voice had grown hoarse. He leaned against a tree to keep his body up. It was ready to shut down. This was one of the few times he had actually pushed himself. He then looked at Jessi and said, "I never pictured running from the cops this way... I always pictured me commiting a crime." He smirked at the whole predicament they were in. He then muttered a curse as it started to rain. It was big drops and it was pouring. Mud would form quickly and would definitely slow their progress. If that wasn't bad enough the cops were gaining. He could see the faint glow of flashlights searching.
Mick coughed a bit and wheezed. He did this for a couple minutes before regaining an almost normal breatheing pattern. "You know, I never thought something like this would happen to both of us. The whole running from the cops thing never seemed like you. But it's wrong of me to assume things." He said with a faint smile that quickly turned into a frown. "C'mon we have to find a hiding place quick!" Time wasn't on their side. They were only minutes away from the cops.

"Shutup. You don't know me very well, then..." There were a few things that Mick didn't know about her, this being one of them. She hated most of the police here, excluding her aunt. Yes, her aunt was one of the Fuzz, and she was the one that got Jessi the job of training the police dogs. When she found out...oh shit. Shaking her head, she started to run again, into the woods, breathing in a steady pattern, trying to think back to her childhood. Where did she hide in here?....There was a rather large cabin that was deserted that she went into, despite her brothers' warnings not to. That was how a seven year old would act, though. Not responsive.
She turned to the west and started to run faster, towards the moss covered cabin, but she was starting to go through water. Why? The dogs /she/ trained couldn't carry the scent in the water, but the plants would lead them. Scent hangs onto plants and such, but human scent is washed away in the water. Soon, she hopped out of the muddy creek, not really caring right now about the mud. She could worry about that later. Soon she saw her childhood escape. Smirking lightly, she looked back for Mick a moment, then stopped at the door, and slowly pushed it open, so not to make much noise and soon stepped in, no creaks sounding, but that wouldn't really stop the dogs. She waited for Mick, hoping he would hurry. Though escaped seemed impossible, she knew they could and would try.

"Ouch..." He muttered to himself. Yeah, he knew he wasn't good with words and this only proved it. He then added, "I meant, you're smart... Ah f**k it." He couldn't get the right words out so he figured it would be better to just not make it worse. He continued to follow her. His legs were still threatening to abandon his body. He followed her to a cabin. Him, this was convienent enough. Maybe it would have an attic or cellar or some where they could hide. His clothes were covered with mud, he had followed her through it. He had caught on to what she was doing.

Breathing got labored by force, knowing that if she gasped or inhaled deeply, the dogs would be able to hear it. Choir came in handy too. Staggered breathing, and such. Jessi took Mick's hand, grasping it tightly for many reasons. Fear, for one, even if didn't show on her face. She had many ways to hide fear and reasons to. They prey upon the scared in the real world. Shaking her head, she walked slowly around the rooms, seeing the shattered glass on the floor, and then, a few doors. Now more than ever, she needed to remember her childhood, the time of her life she blocked out. There was a time she played hide-and-seek with someone...who? Ah, with whom didn't matter! She opened the door in front of her slowly and went down the steps, still clinging onto Mick's hand tightly. as she walked quickly but silently down the steps. Making sure the door behind them was closed, she still didn't let go of his hand as she looked around the darkness. Sighing, she knew there was no light down here. No electricity, no candles, no way to make fire. They were stuck in the dark ground until it was safe to come out. "I'm going to be in /so/ much trouble when my father finds out..."

Mickail felt her grasp his hand, he didn't read much into it. She need comfort and that was alright. The cabin had a story to it, he could tell. By the way she was so tense. And the way she grasped his hand. However, if you just looked at her face you couldn't tell. She was good at hiding her fear, but he knew her well enough to know when she was. He followed her in the rooms and out of them and then through a door and down stairs. Mick felt the darkness consuming him. When he was younger he had feared the dark but his past had showed him to embrace it. Darkness could make you forget the bad things. He slowly lowered himself to the ground and sat down. He sat there trying to regulate his breatheing.
"I bet." He said softly. He couldn't see her in the room any more. But he knew she was there, after all she was still grasping his hand. He gulped as he looked around in the darkness. He then thought of his childish fears. The fears that the darkness hid other creatures. Murderers, Kidnappers, and Monsters could be in the dark, that was what he thought when he was younger. But he couldn't help but wonder if they were alone.

"Well, this sucks. This is /way/ different than when I was seven. The lawyers, even /more/ moronic, the justice system, even MORE screwed up! Hell, when I was seven, I had to go to court because they thought I was lying. They thought I would have the nerve to shoot my uncle. My god...this is why I hate people." Yes, Jessi was freaking out, but she had a reason to. The whole police force knew her, give or take a few, her brothers wouldn't shut up until they got punched in the face, and her father....ohh, she didn't want to think about her father. Shaking her head, she sat down on the floor, letting go of Mick's hand. She still used the 'Staggered breathing' tactic. She still felt as if someone were around, besides Mick, but that was impossible. They were down stairs for god's sake, no one could be down here...could they?
"Well, never thought I would be down here again. I never liked it in here, only because I thought I saw something in the back...I always loved the dark though. It reminds me of so much, it's not even funny. Like...my uncle's eyes. Or, the safety of Jason's arms..." Sighing, she knew she was being so foolish, but it didn't matter. She knew they wouldn't be killed for this. They didn't even do anything.

Mickail could tell she wasn't very content being here and the situation they were in. He frowned though nobody could see it. He then shuffled around in his pockets and pulled out a smashed bag of cheetoes. He then whispered to Jessi, "I got cheetoes..." Moments like these were very interesting. It was like Mick could just forget his predicament to be stupid. His mother always said he had a short attention span. Mick waited for Jessi to respond. Maybe this wasn't the best angle to go at trying to cheer her up but he could try and fail. "Jessi... You know I'm trouble right?" He asked with all sincerety. Bad luck clung to him. And he wanted her to know it. He felt guilty for the whole thing. He should of just turned and ran away from the alley. The look the men gave them should of told him enough. [/size]

"You serious? Hand 'em over, pal" Jessi was trying to calm down, smirking slightly. She really didn't think he would give them to her, but it was worth a try. She couldn't understand how Mick could even say he was bad luck. It wasn't his fault at all. "No you're not. You're not..." She shook her head with certainty, knowing Mick was nothing of the sort. Yeah, she had much faith in her friend. Hell, it was like he was her brother. She loved him like one, that much was for certain. Sighing, she looked up at the ceiling quickly, head snapping backward as she stared into the darkness. She had a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach, but she could be wrong. But then again, she might not be.
"Mick, just remember one thing, alright. You are not trouble. You're like my brother, and....I love ya."

Mickail tossed her the cheetoes and dug in his pocket some more and found a Snickers bar. It had been half eaten and wrapped up. He let out a small squeal as he spotted it. He then took a big bite of it. He was content with his snickers. With his mouth full he softly said to Jessi, "Wanna bite?"
((Short forgive me... I'm hungry. xD))
